Abstract

Divorce has become one of the most frequent environmental stressors experienced by children. These research articles and personal interview with a human relations counselor reviews past, present and future analysis of children's adaptation to divorce. In our present day modern world, researchers have moved away from the view that family structure other than the traditional nuclear family of same bio Mom and Dad negatively affect the development of psychopathology in children. Single-parent status, foster care, relative caregiver, or other caregiver also contribute to the development of psychopathology in children but doesn’t always have a negative effect depending on the events that contributed to the dissolution of the marriage rather than the event of the divorce per se. Such process variables have been identified by investigators and professionals as more important factors of children's adjustment. Additionally, the research articles and sources here examine children's short-and long-term adjustment to divorce, specific problem areas that are common among children from divorced families, and directions for future investigations. The spiritual Christian worldview research here also brings to light the absolute sanctity of marriage and how God views divorce, if He allows it and under what particular circumstances.
