Abstract

Project Managers (PM) for Ducks Unlimited were destined to endure budget issues due to a

poorly defined scope of requirements is when PMs find themselves in a position where what is

required is ambiguous and this can lead to all sorts of problems including misaligned schedules

and budgets. An insufficient budget is often a significant reason for failure is insufficient budget

due to poor planning, slash and burn of proposed budget to save costs. This results in

insufficient budget and non-completion of the project or corners being cut to meet budget, but

impacting the quality of the deliverable. The Lack of resources is when the required resources

are needed to complete activities and deliver a final product however an all too common issue is

that the project is not fully resourced. A Lack of stakeholder buy in is an all too common issue

that many projects face. Lack of buy in can be multi-faceted from a lack of understanding

regarding the benefits of the deliverable to work actively against it in some cases attempting to

get the project stopped. PMs need to work hard at defining roles and responsibilities ensuring

authority is clear and that any issues are resolved quickly. Team members not getting along is a

key problems coupled with projects being stressful of dependencies and constraints among team

members. Deliverable not fit for purpose is a nightmare scenario for any PM trying to complete

a project and it’s discovered later that the deliverables are not fit for purpose. This Statement of

Work resulted in poor scope and poor quality of product and but this can involve contractual
