With everything that is going on in the world today, I have to agree with President Obama. He makes a lot of very valid points that may not take place immediately but will help and make a difference in the future. I think that this would be a great start for our country to become somewhat independent. Relying on other countries for oil can cause issues and then there will be more issues that need addressing when there really does not have to be. Trying to branch out and become a more independent country will possibly put an end to certain things. Our independence from oil requires time, money, and willingness to stop relying on oil. Implementing new ideas and strategies can start the process, it will not be easy, but the outcome will be beneficial for the country. America consumes 25% of the world’ oil, we possess only 3% of oil reserves (Gail Luft. Ending America’s dependence on Middle East oil. October 2004). Some politicians believe the answer is drilling unexplored site within the United States; maybe the fear of what to do if oil disappears: the car industry may disappear or how expensive will be for the car industry and owners to adapt their cars to alternative sources or this is a political issue. In some ways President Obama does have a good idea of using these new technologies because then we would not have to depend on them or deal with the foreign countries but the issues are that it will cost too much unnecessary money when we already have suppliers. Some of the key habits that hinder my thinking is the large amounts of money being spent. This would be the only thing that sits heavy on my brain. I say this because the large amount of money can be spent on other important things in the world. Like school funding or homelessness. Some of the things that I could do to overcome these habits that are hindering my thinking would be to just take into consideration the issues that we are going through and think about what is the best thing to do in this...
