Taxi Driver is a 1976 American movie directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Paul Schrander. The film takes place in New York City a little after the Vietnam War finished. The story is about Travis Bickle, a lonely, mentally unstable veteran who began working as a taxi driver, joining the troubled city's nightlife. The movie develops around the fact he wants to safe both Betsy and Iris from their imprisonment. Taxi Driver present men as the only savior for women trapped in the city life of New York.

Travis Bickle; an outsider, lonely, depressed, obsessive man and a former marine living in Manhattan who occasionally contacts with his parents by letters full of lies telling about this imaginary perfect life he wished he have. He alludes to have sleeping problems to start working every night as a taxi driver. He takes pills every night to stay awake which changes his perception of the city. He describes the city as the place where “animals” come out at night. This movie is about a porn addicted and socially inept young man who is disgusted by the social issues in the 42nd street, better describe as “hell”. A place where prostitution, drug addiction, and aggression are part of most girls’ lives, but he meets this beautiful blond woman in a white dress described as an angel that no one else could be like and no one could even touch her. When he got out of hell he found a goddess, an angel that needed to be release from Palantine, and the father figure she has from this presidential candidate she works for. Freeing her becomes his main obsession; he probably does not even have a reason for doing it but he just creates this determination which shows that from the character’s point of view cannot be achieve by Betsy. He thinks he is the only one that can save her, creating this paranoiac obsessive behavior of a killer after she rejected him accentuating his sense of loneliness.
