Review One of Brave New World

This is turning out to be a very interesting and disturbing book. To think that people use machines to recreate life is horrible in itself, but to run experiments and to train their minds at such a young age by shocking them to not like nature and to instead be more appealed to work in assembly lines is even more outlandish and atrocious. I can’t even imagine seeing 96 identical twins. How boring would our world be if there were only 6 or so different looking humans? It sounded as if they were baking cookies. They said that they create 11 thousand brothers and sisters in 150 batches. Even more thought provoking is if they are all related, do they celebrate birthdays? How is their family constructed? Maybe I will find out later, who knows. The tests that they run are ridiculous. They run treatments such as; heat treatment to make these adults be more prone to living in hot weather and alcohol treatment/oxygen deprivation treatments so that they won’t be extremely intelligent. It was surprising to read the reactions that occurred when they talked about actual parents. It sounded as if it was something that was abolished and looked down upon… almost primitive sounding. They mentioned how people in Mexico still practice this and how they live ‘unhappy’ lives. My guess is that this book is going to have a turn for the worse and something is going to happen in the society where everyone is affected.
