TCS Smart Manager Case Contest # 58

Mr. Mahadev Sarma, being the CEO of Indian Mercantile Bank (IMB) at age 45 clearly was brilliant at his work because of which he reached the topmost position so soon in his career. The situation that he is facing is a tough one and through this analysis I would like to provide him with a solution that according to me seems fit for the scenario.

The Central Bank of Hindustan’s (CBH) circular which stated the policies to be followed go pretty much against Sarma’s “Reach for the sky” initiative. However, according to me following the directive as a formality and concentrating more on his programme would make more sense to the bank financially. This is mainly because his decision to come up with this plan was to give the IMB a very different perspective and change its brand image while increasing its client and deposit base. If he changed his entire strategy just to suit the CBH’s policies, his budgets would have gone for a toss and the bank would only go into further losses.
