Managers are the crux of every business. Managers are responsible for both complex and mundane task. "Managers are people who do things right” (Bennis & Goldsmith, n.d). A manager is about efficiency and knowing about the how (Bennis & Goldsmith, n.d). Managers are responsible for managing task and the work lives of the people performing the task easier. A manager assists others in achieving organizational goals by providing feedback, motivation, direction, removing barriers, and ensuring the team is working to achieve a common goal. The management process has four primary functions: planning and strategizing, organizing, leading, controlling, and decision making.” In this paper subjects to identify and discuss are the main components of management and the parties accountable for managing Kudler Fine Foods. Additional subjects to identify are Kudler’s use of technology and the Internet and examples of how Kudler illustrates the forces of Porter’s model (University of Phoenix, 2011).
Primary Functions of Management
Kudler Fine Foods uses four functions of management to run its business operations. Kudler’s organizational structure consists of the president, finance, and accounting, operations, inventory, purchasing, human’s resources, store managers, and the administration department. Kathy Kudler is the president for Kudler Fine Foods (University of Phoenix, 2011). Kathy’s responsibilities include the planning function of management. The planning component of management evaluates the environment to establish objectives and identifies activities necessary to achieve the objectives (Gomez-Mejia, 2002). Store managers and department leads for each store are also responsible for planning and strategizing. The second function of management is organizing.
