There are four cyclic steps described as the functions of management. Consider only one of the components described in these functions or processes and describe if and how this component is utilized to enhance the role and function of a health care manager?

“Through leading, managers build commitments, encourage activities that support goals, and influence others to do their best work on the organization’s behalf (Lombardi, D., Schermerhorn. J., & Kramer, B., 2007).This is one function I think is very important for a manager in the health field should have. Leading is key, without a leader no one would know what to do; there would be no direction within the facility. Leading is something that has to be done in a kind, respectful manner because if you are rude people are less likely to want to follow your direction. So by being kind and respectful to others it will allow them want to what you ask of them.

As a healthcare manager, what two strategies would you consider to help build internal and external relationships that could benefit your organization?

One of the first steps I would take is build relationships with my community. This will allow me to know what my community needs and how I can help. I would also be able to let the community know what my facility can do for them in their time of need. By showing the community that we are out there doing for them will also let them know that we care about them and that they can trust us to be there when they need us. My second strategy would be know my staff and what the need from me as well as the facility. By this I mean knowing what is going on with patients and staff at all times; also if I can get them anything they may need to help them take care of patients in a better way.
