There are many issues facing the Law Enforcement agencies today. Some of these are increasing changes in their environments, increasing change of how crimes are committed. Technological developments, public opinions, and terrorist. The changing in technological developments has led to a whole new way to commit crime and this has led to the police force having to learn how to go after the criminals. You have to worry more and more about terrorist attacking your city and how to handle a situation like this. You also have people convinced that the few police that are in trouble for misconduct, sexual harassment, and corruption are representing what are police forces are made up of. This is not true and they are faced everyday with trying to sway the public opinion toward the good police on the force. You also have the new threat of terrorist who will sacrifice themselves in order to achieve their goals and this leaves the law enforcement agencies with a lot of work to try to combat this threat. To those that bad mouth the police let me remind you that every profession (including yours) has someone who does things wrong or illegal. That does not make the entire profession bad, but it always seems to make the news. The majority of officers are trying hard to keep our society safe and free. The duty of law enforcement is to “protect and serve”. To do this, police officers must be able to police in a multicultural society, which is hard it’s self, but to think that we would be better off without police officers would be a costly mistake.
