OUTLINE

1. Hazard identification- West Nile Virus (WNV) that are carried in the birds and mosquitoes that can cause death.

2. Dose-response- Malathion is the required solution (education is required)

3. Exposure- Community affected with the WNV virus which cause a high risk to the rich and poor community.

4. Risk characterization- avoiding the risk of WNV and controlling the risk of poverty to the city by reducing tourism.

MALATHION

Since my voice can only be heard through my vote just like everyone else in the community. I will vote and my vote is to agree to learn about Malathion, but not for it. I feel that we as a whole should know what risk we are accepting by agreeing to do the Malathion. I do understand that not voting will only give the opportunity to others who voted for the Malathion to go through with their plans. I don’t see why that one of the community options is the Malathion and their not sure what the negative risks that it may bring to the community.

The Malathion should not be option due to the lack of information that is missing. The community must know what and why they are voting in order for them to make a wise decision like this. This is a very dangerous risk either way. At the same time we as a community must know what we are getting our selves into. The Hazards must be identified before we are made to make this critical decision. All we know is that Malahion risk can be controlled and the mosquitoes spreading the WNV can not be controlled.

The Malathion is a procedure that is required to spray and ground application to the pesticides which should give the community a less risk of the WNV. The problem is that you must be aware of the side affects that it causes which is unknown.
