Executive Summary

The ITIS project initiated on 2001 by Federal Government costing some RM380 million to provide the up to date traffic information around Klang Valley. The system covers 45 major roadways and combined length of about 150 kms and complete in mid-2005. ITIS collect all the traffic information and process the information at Traffic Management Center (TMC), all the result will send to road user through website by traffic news, real-time video, congestion map, variable message board (VMS) or image to improve traffic condition around Klang Valley.

The traffic condition not improve obviously after launch the system since year 2005, many user were not aware for this information system. The system was not fully utilizes. To solve the problem and create new business opportunities, ITIS should add new feature to the system, upgrade existing hardware and software or apply new technology to enhance this information system even have external factor like low broadband penetration. And also integrated with GPS navigation and expand coverage area for this system for meet the objectives of the Structural Plan Kuala Lumpur 2020 to improve the management of the Klang Valley's transport infrastructure system.

Statement of the Problem

The traffic problem still going on everyday around Klang Valley while the IT IS launch their system since year 2005, road user not convince for this system and cause low utilization and effective rate of the system. One of the weakness is the traffic information provided by ITIS were no update frequently. ITIS looking for the way to improve their planning and traffic flow in the city for future planning.
