What examples could you provide of firms (any firm, in any industry) that successfully engaged in socially responsible marketing?

Socially responsible marketing is a commitment to improve community well-being through discretionary business practices contributions and, it is something that all firms have decided to take a more active and strategic role in. (Phillip Kotler, Kevin Lane Keller, 2012) Several companies are known worldwide for their efforts in doing so.

Coca- Cola stands out as a great representation of a corporation that has taken a very active role in socially responsible marketing. Their website displays an in depth overview of the company’s belief, how they strive for customer satisfaction, and information on how they take positive roles in societal affairs. The website shows how they address issues of concern within the community and how they are active in several issues that are directly related to the prolonged use of their products. These concerns include diabetes, obesity, and tooth decay. (The Coca-Cola Company)

Some programs endorsed by Coca-Cola are the Special Olympics, 1000 Schools in Motion, Go Kids and many others. They donate generously their time and money around the globe to countries like Singapore, England, and New Zealand to name a few. (The Coca-Cola Company)

Another company that promotes positive social responsibility is UPS; this company not only promotes a healthy environment but is very supportive of their employees. Much of the global commerce depends on UPS; they deliver approximately 14.8 million packages daily to over 200 countries. They have made strides to increase full efficiency and decrease fuel emissions. They currently deploy over 1500 alternative fuel vehicles.
