Merrill Lynch, as one of the world’s leading wealth management, capital markets and advisory companies in the world with offices in 36 countries and territories and total client assets of approx. US1.5 trillion. As an investment bank, it is a leading global tracker and underwriter of securities and derivatives across a broad range of asset classes and serves as a strategic advisor to corporations, governments, institutions, and individuals worldwide. Merrill Lynch’s Global Private Client group provides wealth management services to high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals globally to help them accumulate preserve and manage their wealth.

Merrill Lynch released the 2006 Asia-Pacific Wealth report. This report highlights the tremendous economic growth that has led to higher wealth in this region, and was created in order to better understand the investment behaviors and trends of high net worth individuals around the world.

• 2.4 million Asia- Pacific HNWI hold more than US 1 million in financial assets- an increase of 7.3% over 2004 and greater than 6.5 global increase in 2005

• Merrill Lynch forecast HNWI financial wealth in the region to reach US 10.6 trillion by 2010 growing at an annual rate of 6.7% and outpacing the global rate 6.0%

• South Korea and India are the two fastest growing markets in the world with a HNWI population growth 21.3% and 19.3% respectably

• Asia-Pacific Contains 27.1 of the global HNWI populaton and 22.9 of global wealth

According to the World wealth report, five Asia-Pacific markets ranked among the global top 10 fastest growing HNWI populations in 2005.
