According to the kinicki and Kiendall, 2009, “Diversity represents the multitude of individual differences and similarities that exist among people. Simply put, diversity is the difference that makes for the uniqueness in individuals.

Diversity climate is defined as “organizational members' attitudes and perceptions toward people from cultural groups other than their own.” These attitudes and perceptions are manifested in the practices and behaviors of individuals in the organization. Managers and employees are all entitled to their own opinion, attitudes and behaviors in the workplace. In this paper the focus will be on Sexual Harassment, Racism, Age discrimination and Americans with disability.

As a manager in an organization, you are faced with diverse employees and even colleagues from different cultures. California for example is termed the “Melting Pot State” we seem to attract more people because of the weather. In a work environment of such diverse people, there are employees that will complain of being sexually harassed. My husband was a victim of sexual harassment a few weeks ago (but was later cleared) because as a healthcare personnel (no stereotype intended) he is bound to work with a bunch of women. In a workplace especially in a diverse workplace, as a manager, you should design sexual harassment training to be conducted annually (required by EEO and DFEH) that employees should not touch one another when talking, do not make sexual remarks to another co-worker who could be a friend at the time because he/she could refer to same remarks when both of you fall out of friendship, as harassment. Also, if the comments are made to a friend but loud enough for others to hear, they could take offense. Referring to body parts of employees and or colleagues is also considered sexual harassment not to mention making passes at an employee or co-worker, should not be a practice in the...
