The Prison Health Care Agency

In the prison health care role I, will be discussing, what is the agency role, its impact on health care, what is an example of the agency carrying out its duties and its regulatory authority does the agency have in relation to health care and what is agency’s process for accreditation, certification, and authorization.

The Federal Bureau of prison, (BOP) is responsible for confining federals offenders in a safe humane, cost- efficient and secure facility. In November, the prisoner housed 166,794 in about 74 locations. The cost of the prisoner healthcare is just in the millions. The Bureau of prisoners provides in house- services contracted by the BOP, who will provide individual or comprehensive care to the inmates. The BOP is trying to control the cost of healthcare given to the inmates. The BOP will install electronic records for the inmates to institution the care of the prisoners; this would help with the care-level of the prisoners by providing them with video conferencing and bill adjustment. This will help with the cost-cutting and avoid fewer errors. The department of Justice will do a general inspection so they can determine whether the BOP can maintained the health cost for the medical, dental, and mental health services for the inmates. In doing the audited they discover out that the BOP successfully maintained the healthcare services. The BOP found ways to improve the health management care of the inmates and reduce the cost of the health services costs. BOP set up a system for each inmate assigning them to a level of care which one will be the healthiest and four will be the one that needed most care, so the BOP had to move their staff around putting them in the levels of care for each inmate. The BOP also added a pharmacy on deck to monitor the medication given to the inmates. The BOP also did assenments on all their inmates...
