"During my eighty-seven years I have witnessed a whole succession of technological revolutions. But none of them has done away with the need for character in the individual or the ability to think."

Since the dawn of the industrial revolution, mankind has become ever more reliant on the use of technology to accomplish our daily tasks and objectives. Some individuals may argue that technology has adequately handicapped the human races collective abilities to think critically and originally, furthermore defining current and future generations by the technological extremities provided for them. I however disagree with this increasingly common misconception and have a far more positive outlook on the effect of technology on society. I will provide rationale and evidence in the subsequent paragraphs for my reasons to believe technology has enhanced the individual character and our societies collective abilities to think originally.

Technology is and of itself its own counter argument to the previously mentioned misconception. Every piece of technology in existence was rendered by the thoughts, imagination, and hard work of some individual, and therefore the continued succession of technological revolution reflects the continued succession of human thought. Technology has brightened and expanded the horizons for critical thought and the development of human character through its ability to provide any individual with an unlimited amount of information and possibility. Individuals now have the means express, learn, and accomplish any range of things, provided that their only limitation is themselves.

Being that no piece of technology can think the way a human does, its usage is merely an extension of human thought. Interactions with technology differ between person to person because of our natural ability to think in cognitive ways, and therefore the use and advancement of technology will continue to expand the realm of critical thought and imagination for the average...
