Introduction
This is the analysis of the annual reports for General Electronic Company (GE). The Company is a US owned multinational which creates technology for health service providers, infrastructure, transportation, and finance sectors. The report analyzed below relates to the year 2012.
1. Sections of the annual report
a. Letter to shareholders
This is a section which is dedicated by the company to its shareholders. It is a summary of the whole report, and it briefly describes the major operations including investments, profitability, challenges and other major trends witnessed within the year. It also indicates the firm’s future plans, contracts to be sealed, and results of previously implemented projects.
b. Business overview
The key areas’ performance are analysed in this section in details. This covers any new investments made in the year, partnerships and acquisitions, any setbacks witnessed, market growth, supply chain structure, corporate social responsibilities, new technology adopted, and major policies which were changed during the fiscal year. This part looks at the general performance of the company, partially touching on its profitability too.
c. Board of directors
The sitting board of directors is listed here, including any recent changes in leadership structure within the year. Every member of the board will have his or her profile published here as well, including their group photo. The chairperson of the board will then issue his or her personal statement touching on the progress of the company during the year, the board’s commitment, forward looking statement, and message to the shareholders.
