Role of Operations Management Paper

The roles of operations management are very important in any organization. There are external and internal factors that bring trial and error to any business. That is when the operations manager needs to be able to identify any issues that may occur and be able to handle it accordingly so they can run a successful business. What will be discuss will be the general roles of any business operation managements, the roles, workflow process, physical layout, capacity design and planning, physical network optimization, staffing levels, supply chain and logistics, quality, planning and process improvement.

The delivery of the goods and services of the company should and always be the main focus of operations management. If your company has goods that are produced then it would be tangible goods, if the goods are services that the company provides then this would be intangible goods. In health care it would be intangible good because they are providers of services. Success in a company depends on management.

In health care there are seven roles of operations that are in the workflow process which are the physical layout, capacity design and planning, physical network optimization, staffing levels and productivity management, supply chain and logistics management and quality and process improvement. The workflow process must be evaluated by management to ensure that the duplication of process or if there needs to be automatic processes. When the processes are recognized then management can improve them to ensure quality and efficiency.

The effectiveness of a health care facility can be determined by the physical layout. Making a blueprint of the facility layout can help before construction starts; because once construction starts there can be limited...
