Domestic violence has been an issue in society for a long time. It can affect anyone and is very dangerous to any relationship. Domestic violence is found in behaviors of those who need power and control over a person/s through emotional attack, terror, and pressure. Domestic violence threatens the safety of a person with viciousness. Battering occurs when a person believes that control over another is most important. Domestic violence affects people in all economic, religious, racial, religious groups and doesn’t matter if a couple is married, divorced, living together, or dating. There are many ways in dealing with these problems such as support groups, interventions, therapy, and programs for victims. Having knowledge beforehand will benefit those in the future and could help one avoid such abusive measures.

Domestic violence is a severe problem in today's society. The outcome toward averting domestic violence would have to first start when a child is young. This type of violence is learned in the home or in a child’s environment and can be kept with the child as he/she matures. When children are punished strongly, they learn the process and can bring that experience with them into his/her own life or later with their children. They make the assumption that when the feeling of frustration or anger is present it is okay to take out that frustration and anger on someone else. Then it is known that violence is acceptable. The only way to encourage a non-violent society is to display to children non-violent habits. It’s best if programs branch out to reach younger ages to help prevent future issues.
