Ever thought of going to a private school instead of public or the other way around? Don't think you good enough to belong to a private school? Public schools causing trouble for your kids? Today I am going to tell you about public schools versus private schools. Most people think that there isn't a big difference, but there is.

Most people think that teachers who teach at a private school have the same qualifications as a teacher at a public school. As reported by Greatschools.org, teachers in a public school are usually state certified or, at a minimum, working toward their certification. Teachers in private schools may not be required to have certification. Instead, they often have a subject-area expertise and an undergraduate or graduate degree in the subject they are teaching to their students.

Special needs depend on every school you go to, public or private. According to Greatschools.org, due to special education laws, public schools must educate all children and provide the necessary programs to meet their special needs. This means that all school districts have special education programs and teachers who are trained to work with special-needs students. On the other hand private schools do not have to accept children with special needs, and many choose not to. Although there is a small number of private schools designed for a specail-needs child out there somewhere.

As reported by the website nces.ed.gov ( updated 2011 ), in 2007-2008 school year, there was an estimate of 119,150 K-12 schools in the United States, of those 87,190 traditional public, 3,560 public charter, 180 funded by the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), and 28,220 private schools. Among these schools 55 percent were public charter and 19 percent were private received Title 1.
