Police Stragety Plan

Introduction

During this winter 2013, several high-profile robberies, gang-related shootings, and drug bust stunned the city. On February 7 2013, a 52year old Hotel owner is robbed and killed with a 2-year old from a gunfight between rival gangs over drugs. Also during a community event at a local park 4 males tourist were robbed and beating. In late February 2013, two people lost their lives while five others were robbed, and wounded during a gang related shooting in a strip mall near a local barbershop. These incidents made it clear to government and community leaders in the city the safety of the community was at stake. It was urgent to take a united, strategic approach to managing the City’s youth and gang violence problem.

Strategic Plan

The Strategic Plan for the antitheft/ gang prevention 2013-2015 is gear towards identifying and carrying out promising methods and introducing policy changes to support local laws. The Strategic Plan is base on reconnecting with the city of Savannah at-risk of theft, and gang related violent youth by aligning the goals and strategies with other initiatives and leveraging with all key partners. The Strategic Plan builds on strong working relationships within and outside the department. This creates positive social environments; promotes social and economical policies that support positive youth development; and blends policing efforts with heavy dosage of prevention, intervention, enforcement, and reentry.

Developing a Task Force

I will be developing a Task Force to combat the growing number of robberies, gangs, and drug problem that has stunned this wonderful city. This task force is aim at stopping but educating the young youths on drugs, robbing, and gang violent is hurting our community. This task force will consist of 6 departmental units and four outside agencies. All these units will work together to stop the gowning threat against our city.
