Teens Forced to Bring in the Money

In Lisa W. Foderaro’s “The Well- to- Do Get Less So, and Teenagers feel the Crunch” she discusses the economy and how it affects families, specifically the teens in those families. She tells the reader that most teens will respect the fact that their parents cannot give them their allowance every week, so they have to find a job to get their own money. She informs the reader that even those teens whose parents are making more than an average income a year are finding jobs. This helps kids learn how to manage their own money and helps them learn how to save their money and not waste it on unnecessary things.

High schools even think that teens should be working and getting involved in the work place. They believe that it will mature the teen and help them obey the rules and help them be more teachable in class. Overall Foderaro explains to the reader that the decrease in the economy is making it harder for families to afford things.

She really expresses the emotions families go through to have money to support themselves. She informs us that teens feel the pressure to make money and to help out in any way they can. Her writing style is effective because it catches the reader’s attention to what is going on. It provides logic, emotion, and ethics in her reasoning.
