Explanation of What Approaches to Recruiting Might be Best Suited for Apple’s Talent Acquisition (Based on the Information Given)

Since Apple is such a popular and desired employer for which to work, having a well-designed, informative, and easy to maneuver employment site is likely to attract a large volume of candidates seeking a career in such a highly advanced and technical field. An applicant tracking system should be set up in a way for applicants to easily search for positions of interest; obtain descriptions and specifications for jobs as well as information about the company; and upload application materials for consideration (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2011).

Since Apple is seeking highly technical talent, those job seekers are likely to use an electronic search medium to find potential jobs. Using a network site such as LinkedIn would be an effective tool for Apple recruiters. According to LinkedIn’s website, they are the Internet’s largest professional network throughout the world serving over 200 countries and territories (LinkedIn, 2012, para. 2). LinkedIn members typically create profiles including their educational background, certifications, and employment history. Apple could search this database of information to find and reach out to those candidates that appear to be a good fit.

Another good tool for Apple would be to use targeted Web sites such as Dice for their talent acquisition needs. Dice is a highly specialized Web site in the field of technology. Upon opening the Web site, a candidate can view and apply for 79,339 technical jobs (Dice, 2012). Large technical companies, such as HP, Boeing, and Cisco are advertising on the home page of the site (Dice, 2012).
