Religion can inspire and teach people to cause positive impacts on those around them even an entire nation. King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud and Cornelia Arnolda Johanna “Corrie” ten Boom are two people that come from different religious beliefs; however, they both have inspired people and cause positive impacts on those around them. Whether Christian, Jewish or Muslim it does not matters, what matters is the positive effects that a person can have on those that surrounds them or an entire nation.

Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud was born in Riyadh in 1924 and received his earliest education in the royal court. “His respect for religion, history and the Arab heritage was influenced by his father who was the founder of the modern Kingdom King Abdulaziz Al Saud. While living in the desert with Bedouin tribes he learned their values of honor, simplicity, generosity and bravery, and instilled in him the desire to assist in the development of his people” (Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, 2013). He became the king of Saudi Arabia on August 1, 2005 after the death of his half-brother; King Fahd. “He is a devout Muslim and it is said that he has meetings with leaders of Saudi Arabia’s religious establishment on a weekly basis to garner advice and guidance” (Jewish Virtual Library, 2013).

He is considered to be a reformer in his country because he has broken many taboos and “declared that the Arabs have fallen critically behind much of the modern world in intellectual activities that his country depends too much on oil and not enough on creating wealth through innovation” (NYTimes, 2010). Abdullah has become a very important person not only to those around him or his country but also to other countries as well because of his religious beliefs.

Basically he has proven to himself and his country his domestic influences in Saudi Arabia through his ability to enact many reforms especially by fighting corruption. He has “cleaned up corruption in the Royal Family,...
