2.Discuss three (3) different methods of effecting change. Why are most organizations and individuals resistant to change? What can managers do to facilitate change? Use practical examples from your experience or knowledge, and describe your experience in implementing change.

If an organization is to survive in today’s market communication and cooperation has to be prioritized. The staff department has its place in the organization for expertise, advice, and technical support. However, the line department is most necessary because they are directly responsible for the company’s revenue. The line manager hears the staff manager’s advice and uses it in his decision making. The line manager may decide to take the advice and support from the staff departments then create a planned change. Although change is good, many still resist as a result of fear or stubbornness, therefore management takes precautions and plans for the resistance.

Judging by the two departments, the line department is more important to an organization than the staff department because the line department is the core structure responsible for the company’s success (Plunkett, 2008). This in no way means that the staff department is not important because it is responsible for assisting the other departments through advice and technical assistance. If an organization were to try and survive without staff departments they would merely exist at best. Companies have found that organizational growth entails having specialty areas like legal, human resources, technical support, and public relations to advise the company, which in turn creates revenue indirectly.
