Tourism is everybody’s business and everybody benefits!!!

Dominica, commonly known as the ‘Nature Isle of the Caribbean’ is a small island located between the French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. Pertaining to tourism Dominica aims to attract tourists with its unspoilt beauty as it is the home of the world’s second-largest boiling lake. Some of its other features include its lush of mountainous rainforests, home of the most exotic plants, animals, and bird species. Since Dominica is seen as a preferred tourist destination it has tremendous benefits. Employment, foreign income and globalization are benefits derived from increased tourist visits.

Based on a report made by the International Labor Organization (ILO) employment in the tourist industry is growing significantly. Thus right here in Dominica it is rampant and evident. Direct employment for people associated with bars, restaurants and hotels is provided locally also transportation services such as taxi drivers, tour guides and car rental etc. the income collected from these jobs are used by the people to support themselves and their families and so making life much more comfortable for them. The jobs created by the tourist industry helps in improving Dominica greatly as it reduces poverty thus the unemployment rate. Hence the country’s standard of living will be up to standard. Being employed, the citizens will have something to look forward to in the end (income) thus the opportunity to interact with foreigners as a consequence developing their socializations skills as they get to meet new people. The profits made in hotels for example can be used to build more hotel rooms or refurbish existing ones to contemporary standards. They may also be invested in other sectors of the economy to create further employment opportunities for citizens.
