Autobiographical Psychosocial History

The five concepts that I have chosen to base my paper on are: meditation, information processing, motivation, suicide warnings, and coping with stress.

Meditation is an awesome way to relieve your body of the everyday stressors in your life, calm your body and mind, and relieve tension. After learning so much about meditation in this course, I have incorporated meditation in my life. Meditating places me in a state of calmness and allows me to find inner peace. You feel as though you are in a completely calm universe and you are refreshed to go about your day. With many children, homeschooling, college, and traveling that puts a large amount of stress on me. My neck tightens, my body aches, I get headaches, and my eyes get tired. Meditation helps calm all of that down, relieves my aches and pains, and reboots my brain. Allowing me to continue to function normally and not be a raging stressed soccer mom with no time left in the day. Now, I can relax, calmly do the things that I need to accomplish, and do it happily. It has allowed me to be the wife and mother I always have dreamed to be.

Now, information-processing I found greatly interesting. I always have wondered how the information we put in our mind gets there and stays there. I also wondered how I could forget something so easily. Since I know about the stages of memory, I can better store the information I want to really remember and throw out the rest. I am known for remember phone numbers, retail prices at the local store, and a large amount of really useless small information. I have always wondered how I can remember those things yet cannot remember what I was supposed to get at the store. I have incorporated the techniques that I have learned about this concept into my life, and I can remember things better. The more I remember to repeat the information that I want to keep, the more successful the process is....
