Executive Summary

The report has been prepared to highlight the importance of pricing in determining the demand of the product in the market and thus impact the decision of the consumers in the market. The report also provides an insight into the strategies that can be employed in different situations by the mobile operators in Australia. For the purpose of this study the SWOT analysis has been performed providing the basis to identify the factors that have a significant impact on the mobile industry. The SWOT analysis is followed by evaluation of the internal and external factors that the industry is exposed to. The external factors include value for services offered by the mobile operators. This study of the external factors is based on the services provided by the market leaders Optus and Telstra. The internal factors for this industry include planning which are associated with the positioning of the product in the market, marketing mix and organisational factors. These factors greatly influence the pricing of the product and for the basis for the pricing strategy.

The strategies associated with cannibalising and the importance of pricing strategy to diversify the product range as well as to provide the basis for the distinctive role of the products that will be for the different consumer group and thus does not impact the demand of product by positively influencing the demand of the first. The report provides an overview of the strategy of the Apple Company and the next G and how pricing strategy has been very critical to the development of the markets of these companies. The discussion of the pricing strategy by these companies has been provided with respect to the Australian economy and the challenges been faced by these companies.
