The Sperm and the Egg

The male’s sperm and the female’s egg have a very busy life. They have to time things just right so that the sperm can fertilize the egg. Both have a long journey but the outcome can be amazing!

Let us begin by discussing the internal and external sex organs of the male and female and the parts that they play in relation to the sperm and the egg. The external parts on the male, which include the penis and the scrotum, are basically the main parts (externally) that help create the process of sexual activity between a male and a female. The male’s internal sex organs include the vas deferens that is a duct that transports sperm from the testicle to the urethra. The ejaculatory duct is a canal that the sperm passes through during the time of ejaculation into the urethra. The urethra is the tube for the semen to travel through during sexual intercourse. The seminal vesicle secretes many components of sperm during ejaculation. The prostate glands function is to secrete a milky fluid that constitutes 50% to 75% of volume of semen along with spermatozoa and seminal vesicle fluid. The testicles produce the sperm. All these different internal parts work together to create and ship the sperm to and through the penis and into the vagina.

Now we come to the female external sex organs that include the labia majora, labia minora, and the clitoris. These help to achieve orgasms and secrete fluids that help lubricate the vagina. The internal sex organs include the vagina that least to the uterus. The uterus is the place where a sperm is the place where a fertilized egg will grow and be nourished as it becomes a fetus. The fallopian tubes (there are two of them) are one of the main components of the female reproductive system. They catch the eggs that are released from the ovaries. They then pull the eggs towards the uterus and the egg will stay in the fallopian tube around 24 to 36 hours....
