Abstracts
Microsoft Project is a project management software program developed to assist the project managers in developing plans, assigning resources to tasks, tracking progress, managing budget & analyzing workloads. The aim of this coursework is understand and implement the various stages of project planning including the risk management with the optimum use of resources. The coursework is based on planning the project for repairing three floating oil storage vessels and placing a best quotation for bidding.
II.
Introduction
The overall project activities of the structural repairs of three floating oil storage vessels and their modification to offshore anchored well heads have been arranged on the Gantt chart with the help of Microsoft project software. The variables of these activities have been modified considering various assumptions stated further to get the optimum project plan. The software assisted in levelling and utilising the resources in the best available option. Later on, the various risk related to the project have been considered and their impact on the project is represented in the risk register. Finally the quotation for bidding has been generated on the measured values including risks.
III.
Project Description:
The project starts on 1st January 2010 with the collection of three floating oil storage vessels from the customer followed by structural repairs, addition of new super structure, internal modification and sea trial to test. Sea trial is followed by pump system integrity test and finally the vessel is delivered back to the customer till 20th May 2010.
