Abstract:

Oyo State is referred to as the PACE-SETTER State, and it is believed to be one of the highly volatile States and the heart-beat of Western Politics in Nigeria. No wonder several meetings that touch on the ‘ODUA’ or call it ‘ODUDUWA’ or the interest of the Yoruba Nation are summon or held in Oyo State. But ironically, over the years, Oyo State had been quite unfortunate in the hands of Political Prostitutes who through State and Federal might were celebrated in the corridors of power with wanton disregard for the Rule of Law, reckless shedding of innocent bloods, abject lawlessness, blunt thugery and Political visionlessness.

The truism that; ‘a generation is bound to be affected by the kind of leadership that operates at a particular time in history’ is worthy of scholastic examination and academic analysis at this junction.

It is therefore the intension of this article to critically examine the above truism by juxtaposing the facts of the present under Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi with the immediate past era of Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, with view to hold-up a mirror for the good people of Oyo State to see themselves, that behold Justice, Development and Peace has come to stay. However, cutting my hands will not change the image in the mirror and breaking the mirror will even be more superfluous or redundant.
