Critical Thinking and Society Exercise

A situation, in which critical and creative thought could have been used for a better outcome, is with the gun control laws trying to be passed in Congress. One of the sparks for gun control, have been the widely publicized mass shootings. It seems that the critical thinking was used as an agenda to disarm the American population rather than address the problem as how to deter and stop the next possible attacker. One thing to say in a situation where a man walks into a building with a gun shooting everyone in sight is to say take all the guns away from the law-abiding public and this cannot happen. However, that is not thinking critically or creatively, that is causing further an increased population of victims. Now only the criminals have guns to victimize, leaving the law-abiding citizens helpless to their attacks.

A better outcome would put persons or deterrents in high value sensitive areas that would stop mass shootings and make the citizens better capable to defend themselves from predators.
