Have you ever considered how things would be, if we where raised the same way that our parents where raised? I ask my self this same question everyday when I am out and about, either picking up grocery or just spending the day with my family in the park. I have realized that things are very different from when my grandparents grew up, they are even different from when my parents where young children. From my observation the responsibility that children have now days is not as demanding as it was in the 50’s. The roles in the home are not the same, where the Father is the provider and the main one to discipline. The mother would be the main housekeeper and would support the father on his decisions for the family.

He is a father of 7 children and the youngest of 4 siblings. I listen intently as he explains to me how life was like when he was a young boy, and how things where when he was growing up. He had lost his mother at a young age. With this loss his role in the family had change, each day they made sure that their daily chores and homework was completed. His clothes where pressed and ironed, and ready for school the next day Before he even could think about going outside and playing.

Life in the 50’s is not like todays modern life style. Children where expected to clean their own room on a daily basis. There was no carefree attitude that “I’ll do it later or mom will clean it for me”. They where also to make sure that everything was in order for school the nest day.
