2. Robert Allison is a Professor of History at Suffolk University and is the Chair of the History Department there. He has also been teaching at the Harvard Extension School since 1993. Allison received his Doctorate in the History of American Civilization and his Bachelor of Liberal Arts. He is also the President of the South Boston Historical Society and Vice President of the Colonial Society of Massachusetts. Other works of his include: “A Short History of Boston” , “The Boston Massacre”, “The Crescent Obscured: The United States and the Muslim World”, “Stephen Decatur: American Naval Hero”, “A Short History of Boston”, and “Revolutionary Sites of Greater Boston” . Allison may possibly have strong ideas simply because he is from such a historical area, Boston, Massachusetts. He has spent a lot of time and research developing historic and educational works centered around Boston and the development of the United States of America.

3. Allison sets out to clear up many myths surrounding the American Revolution by giving this short yet involved introduction to the war with this book. He also adds a unique touch to his work by closing with the aftermath, consequences, and rewards of the revolution up to 50 years after the war ended. He describes how the states came to form their own individual governments all serving the better of the country as a whole, based on the ideals and belief systems that caused the revolution and gave the Patriots a reason to fight. He sets out to inform the reader that after the revolution, it wasn’t life as usual. It was a lot of hard work, especially by the Founding Fathers to establish a government for the people that would give their children a better life.
