Why is the law not the highest aspiration of morality?

Laws and morality are totally different things. The law is not moral it is about social norms put into law. It is what is written and argued over, Case Law, that defines its application. For example a drunk driver can kill many people but if a minor technical detail was missed that was pertentant to a conviction, then that driver can escape the law. As tribes evolved, and formed closer ties for survival, they used tribal law so all could bond. More complex laws developed with more complex societies.

Because while everyone wants to be moral having eaten of the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, we all know what is good and what is evil, no one wants the actual work involved in being moral.

This means that most humans recognize that the law is pesky in its fair application to everyone. In fact, everyone wants to be the only exception to the law; each human wants to get ahead of the other humans that way. A human being's highest aspiration is succeeding at whatever he or she wants to do, whatever the cost to others. Having a good reputation also is a nice thing, but not working for it.

In ethics I think we should take our time to think to safe our life. I know is sad...
