Vision Statement Week 1

Visualization is an extremely effective tool taught in yoga. I have been practicing yoga since 2001. In order to accomplish physical transformation, it is imperative to visualize your goals. It takes years of dedication, hard work, and patience. There are many challenges, both physically and mentally in executing a perfect pose. With the help of my yoga teacher, I am closer today than I was a year ago. I am expecting to be able to do a perfect handstand in five years. In yoga and in life, the journey is just as important as the result.

In visualizing my goals, I realize they fall into two buckets, personal and professional. These two buckets are inter-related. My goal of achieving my MBA is both a personal and a professional goal. Personally, my educational accomplishments will follow me no matter where I work. Professionally, my educational achievements will further my career and distinguish me amongst my peers. My personal goal of achieving a handstand may appear to be strictly personal but honing that level of focus and concentration will enable me to be limitless professionally.

My current professional snapshot for 2013 is an impressive one. I have been with FedEx in field sales since 2005. In FY13, I won President’s Club (Top 5% Ranking) and the NorCal Region Leadership Award (H2). In FY10, I won Ambassador’s Club (Top 10% Ranking).

By 2018, I visualize my professional snapshot to be the same as today but on steroids. I have accomplished monetary awards but I want to accomplish one for innovation. I want to win the Five Star Award. It is the most prestigious award given personally by Fred Smith, the founder of FedEx. With an MBA, I expect to be able to analyze global accounts and transform myself from an ordinary sales representative to a perceptive business consultant.
