Time management has applications not only to students who are trying to juggle multiple classes, but to people in the workplace and at home. When people do not manage their time efficiently, they may find that tasks do not get accomplished on schedule, if at all, or that they tend to procrastinate. Students may even get overwhelmed, and do not have as much freedom and flexibility for personal time. Effective time management is rewarding as a person achieves their goals and reduces stress. In order to find a solution to the problem it is necessary to research common causes of the problem, find tools that can be used to address the issue, and ways to apply the tools effectively.

Information regarding time management can be found in many places. The internet offers a wealth of information but it can sometimes be overwhelming. A simple search of the internet for the topic of time management will return thousands of websites devoted to the topic. Some of these websites are very general in nature and while they may describe the problem, they only offer vague suggestions (McGuinness, 2007).

There are many books, and articles written about the subject of time management as well (McGuinness, 2007). To evaluate books on the subject it is often useful to read reviews written by those who have already read the book. Many online booksellers such as Amazon; Barnes and Noble have the reviews online for customers to read. In addition, the table of contents is often available so the customers can not only get a general idea of content, but can also determine if that particular book applies to their situation. The reviews will also allow the customers to determine if the book was useful to others who purchased it.
