What is the relationship between energy balances and weight management? Energy balance between calories consumed through eating and drinking and calories expended through physical activity and metabolic processes. Energy consumed must equal energy expended for a person to remain at the same body weight. Over weight and obesity will result from excess calorie intake and or inadequate physical activity. Weight loss will occur when a calorie deficit exsist, which can be achieved by eating less, being more physical active.

How might insufficient or excessive amount of proteins, carbohydrates, fats or fibers contribute to one’s health or illness? Be specific and provide examples.
