Testing a Theory

I have tested many theories and done so many things in the past that I had no idea I would be speaking of in my college classes. The good thing is that I did do them. My first experience was when I was in middle school and I had to do a science project. I was testing out what type of liquid would make plants grow. I used a soda pop drink (didn’t have to be specific), milk, and water. I had to research what watch type of liquid contained and made sure to observe the growing of the plants. I had a total of three plants in which I watered with each liquid every two days until it was time to show off my experiment. As I suspected since the beginning the water was the main thing that made my plant grow. It not surprising at all but it could have gone a different way. This is kind of similar to the research a psychologist does because we both had to analyze the outcome to something. Whether if it’s analyzing people or my plants. If a psychologist is observing a patient and seeing the reactions they might have to a certain something, they are testing a theory. Maybe soda gets a person hyped up because of all the chemicals it might have or maybe they might be allergic to water. Everyone test a theory sometimes it might be right and sometimes it might be wrong, we just keep trying. If I had more time and I knew what I knew now I would have tried different types of liquids like the water from the washing machine mixed with detergent or even energy drinks. There are many other things that might have improved my theory but I was satisfied with my outcome. I like learning new things and that was a great experience.
