SUBJECT: Read em and weep

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Recently, our methods of communicating with employees have led to a less effective work place. We currently follow the top-to-bottom method of communication and it is feared that many of our employees do not feel comfortable sharing their thoughts about how our company operates. We want to offer a more collaborative work environment where everyone can feel their voice will be heard. After reviewing the “Leadership is a Conversation” article, there are 4 possible styles that we can use in order to build our company structure around our employees and allow for open communication.

INTIMACY: Intimacy is crucial in gaining trust from employees. Intimacy will allow barriers between upper level executives and frontline employees to be broken. Listening to employees with genuine care for their thoughts helps build moral and builds a better working relationship. Getting Personal with the employees and allowing for real feedback is important and allows the free flow of information.

INTERACTIVITY: Interactivity promotes dialogue between two or more individuals. Allowing for interactivity gives employees the opportunity to speak candidly and gives feedback to questions that are asked. Through the use of technology we can now interact with people across the globe. Interactivity gives everyone involved a voice.

INCLUSION: Including employees in on ideas and development can lead to a more loyal workforce. Inclusion allows for employees to take on new roles and will let them be Brand Ambassadors, Thought Leaders and Story Tellers for the company. When employees feel included and are heard they can become walking billboards for the company.

INTENTIONALITY: Every conversation that we have should have some intent to it. Whether it is to make a change or create a new product we need to stay focused on the purpose of our conversation. Being open in conversation by asking for consent...
