2- Step

2.1 – Step 1: Assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency mobile-based applications provide to capture geolocation data and customer data, and quickly upload to a processing server without users having to use a desktop system.

One of the most popular trends in social networking is Geolocation technology which lets someone know where we are and helps us locate popular restaurants or other places close to our physical location (ISACA, 2011). We are able to pull up locations on our mobile devices, smartphones without having to use a desktop system to pull up MapQuest or Google maps to get directions to where we need to go. We would normally pull them up through Map Quest or other apps on our desktop and print them out, but now there is no need for that with a smartphone which can calculate your exact location and you can carry with you. Geolocation data can also reveal significant information about the people you spend time with and a view of their social network (Gross, B., 2012). The mobile phone has produced an enormous increase in uniquely identifiable data that can be used for tracking you and everyone in your social network. A constant stream of Geolocation data is generated by one person that is collected by mobile carriers. The information is generated from cellular triangulation, geolocated IP addresses, and integrated GPS units, which deliver down to 10 meter accuracy (Gross, B., 2012). I don’t like how our information can be used for commercial use, and it seems to me that it sounds a little dangerous and an invasion of privacy.
