Communication is one of the most effective tools in today’s business. Being able to get your message clearly across to the appropriate audience is very important. There are several things to take into consideration before that message is delivered be it orally or a written presentation. Know the characteristics of the audience, communication channels, diversity of the audience, and ensure that the message is effective.
Audience characteristics
The characteristics of the audience are very important, since the audience that I would be presenting to is a mixture of people that can affect the success of the business. The following characteristics should be taken into consideration, education, amount of information that is available about the subject, economic status, and group association and demographic.
Communication channels
Communication is the channel in when a message is delivered to an audience. This message can be presented in various formats to an audience such as orally, written and face-to face. In business all three methods can be utilized depending on the message and the audience the message is been presented to.
Oral communication
Oral communication is speaking to someone verbally; there are advantages and disadvantages to using this format. Advantages to communicating verbally are, the information is received instantly, builds relationship with the audience, shorter and more specific, and allows the audience to connect with the speaker. Disadvantages to this channel are, not having enough details, message can be misinterpret, too much information, and audience not able to hear the speaker.
Written communication
Communicating in a written format allows give the speaker time to think through the information, make corrections, and research the information to ensure accuracy. The message can include statistical data, graphs, charts, and pictures. The audience is...
