PC or Laptop
In today's world, often it is difficult when deciding to purchase a PC or a laptop. It seems
that they are the same but in fact they are very different. In this essay I will compare the
differences between the two and bring light to the different cost that may be involved in owning
either of the two.
A PC is a very stationary device and is hard to move around. It often looks very messy
with the tower, monitor and keyboard as well as all the connective wires that one would need for
a full functioning PC center. Laptops are more for "on the go" type people. They are more
accommodating to move or just pickup and go when need be. They are also very useful for
college students and/or people that travel for business.
Computing performance can differ greatly depending on what the needs are for the
owner. With a PC, it is much easier to add components, memory and/or video cards to
accommodate the needs for video games, graphic design or recording software. They have made
great improvements to laptops concerning the ability to expand components however, it is still
very difficult to get a portable laptop to perform similar to a PC. Laptops are easy to overheat
because of the limited amount of usable area to place the vents on such a small device. PC do not
tend to overheat as much as long as the computer does get some down time.
Up keep and maintenance of a device must be present in the thought process when
choosing a computer with longevity as one should want and/or expect. Make sure that you
choose a device that doesn't require immediate attention with components because upgrading can
sometimes be very difficult. If a laptop gets damaged, usually the owner would have to replace it
as a whole where the PCs tend to be easier on repairs and normally you can replace components
in a PC. Always consider a good anti-virus and pay attention to the warranty as well as
registering the warranty.
