Dear Raymond,

As per your request, this following memo will provide various steps and ways in implement an IDS policy. At the end of this email there will be a set example on how the IDS policy will work and the benefits of having one.

It doesn’t matter how big or small a company might be, but when a company has an IDS policy installed within its systems, it will help prevent future attacks such as the ones that have happened in here before this policy was created. The definition of an IDS stands for Intrusion Detection System. And intrusion detection system is a certain device or software that can monitor the networks or systems activities for any strange or malicious activities that may violate policies within the workplace. After something has been detected it will then create a report to the management station so that the users may see what is going on and correct and rectify the problem before it gets any worse.

The first step on an Intrusion Detection System is prevention. Since prevention is where most companies will spend money, it is always important to have a system that is setup perfectly and will detect anything, big or small, twenty four hours a day. With IDS the prevention system is where most of the money will be poured into in researching the best prevention system that can not only benefit the company but also make it easy for IT analysts to see what is going on within the network.

The entire point of an Intrusion Detection System is to make sure that the attacks that happened at this company do not happen again. Attacks may cause us severe damage such as exposure to clients information which could lead to law suits, and also could reveal company information towards rival companies that are out to destroy you. An IDS system will allow us to monitor the network and be updated with real time...
