“A good way to earn money and to develop a professional project”

Lots of students must use their savings, realized thanks to their summer job’s salary, to manage to make ends meet every months of the school year.

Today, the summer job isn’t only a way to save money to cope with the next school year anymore. In fact, for many students, it’s also a good way to discover a job, an environment and to develop a professional project.

he case of Nicolas Da Silva, 21 years old, student in marketing Master’s degree in business school, whom we met in a French supermarket: Auchan which is the second most important mass distribution brand in France.

It’s not by chance if this student worked in the supermarket Auchan. Indeed, he wanted to “find a summer job in connection with my studies and my professional project (to work in marketing of mass-market retailing)”. A post as department head assistant, available for three months (from the beginning of June to the end of August), has been a real opportunity for him.

“Department head assistant is a particular job because days start very early, around 3 am, to finish around 11 a.m. As I had already some experiences in this field, the department manager gave me more responsibilities. I didn’t just stock and restock the shelves or inform customers, I was also in charge of establishing schedule of the other employees, of managing problems they could have and of course make inventories and orders.” told Nicolas.

The integration with the other employees? Too easy!

When we speak to him about the integration with the other employees, Nicolas affirms with a smile that is was a real pleasure to work with his team. Indeed, almost all his colleagues were young, dynamic and nice. He tells us that the atmosphere was very relaxed…… a bit too much maybe.
