Communication and Information Technology

Communication (from Latin commūnicāre, meaning "to share") is the activity of conveying information through the exchange of thoughts, messages, or information, as by speech, visuals, signals, writing, or behaviour. It is the meaningful exchange of information between two or more living creatures. (Harper, 2013) .Technology is the invention of tools and techniques.

Developments in Communication Technology

Technological changes in communications have had the greatest impact on our lives. Communication technologies have become affordable and available to virtually everyone. They provide us with the ability to communicate and access knowledge in many different ways.  

With the introduction of the internet in the 1990s many applications were introduced making way for better and more cost-effective means of communication on a global level.

Previously people could only contact those living in distant lands through mails which took weeks even months for the recipient to receive the letter. Nowadays we use the telephone, email , fax machine, video messaging and many more ways to communication instantly, we use smart phones, laptops,ipads and many more devices that enable people to be contacted at any time or place using Applications such as skype, facebook, twitter etc which enable dialogue and visual contact. The Radio was once used for entertainment now we have video games, smart televisions, iPods, smart phones, and many more devices which allow us to watch television and listen to music from many different countries and channels from across the globe, play games in our living rooms...
