This particular article is an eye-opener for me because it actually gave me more insight on the type of person that I would be as a manager because of the person that I already am. By saying this I would have to say that I am a listener because there are times that I repeat the question that is asked of me just to make sure that I am giving them the best answers possible because unlike Eisenhower I don’t have aides that makes sure that “every question from the press was presented in writing at least half an hour before conference was to begin.” (Drucker, 2006) In a management position I wouldn’t be able to ask my employees to write their questions down first. They would look to me for the answers. When it comes to the way that I learn I would have to say that I am a hands on person because reading something off of the paper isn’t my strong suit. I want to be a manager that listens to their employees because when you have a open ear to the employees they are more than likely to perform better because you are able to learn their strong suits and that will make it all the more easier to place them where they will be the most productive unlike the chief executive on page 8 who chooses to talk and not listen. To me they are sometimes the worst upper levels to work for. While saying this I am an extreme believer that I need to conduct an analysis on myself to ensure that I have my strengths and weaknesses noted. Who would want to be in a position in which they are less productive do to the fact that they are in an area in which there is no expertise on my behalf. If I started in an entry level position and it is one of my strengths I can do no more than become an expert of my task at hand.
