We are holding an event to raise awareness of a little known childhood cancer. It is adrenal cancer, there are not any known causes of this cancer but we are making progress in determining which DNA differences might play apart in this. It is from events like this won and with people like you that will help us to keep up the progress. This cancer is normally found in children under six or in there teen years. So not every age group is affected. As of right now there is no way to prevent a child from getting this cancer, however having an active lifestyle and good eating habits will play a role in preventing cancer. Symptoms of adrenal cancer can be hormonal or by the size of the tumor pushing on other organs. Signs such as weight gain, fat deposits, excessive hair growth, weakness, easy bruising, high blood sugar,

High blood pressure. These are just a few of the symptoms that can be caused by the hormonal imbalance created by the adrenal cancer. By looking at these effect on the body is one of the only ways we can detect if there might be a problem in these glands. Another way is by a CT scan, the good news is that it is easier to detect earlier in children because it often creates an over production of sex hormones which show out wards signs early. The bad part about the detection is that it is not a route thing looked for because it is so rare. When it comes to treating this cancer there are several options that are available based on the stage of the cancer. There is surgery to remove the glands, radiation, chemotherapy, and some other drugs. More often than not more than one of these methods will have to be used to ensure the remission of this cancer. Not many facilities have experience dealing with adrenal cancer so it is important to get second opinions not just on the diagnosis but also in the treatment of it.
