Dallas Department Store

The obstacle Kelly Barton faces is a hard and strategic situation that needs to be carefully examined and thoroughly planned out. Being open to all the possibilities to solve this situation from all perspectives needs to be addressed so that a fair and reasonable solution is the outcome.

Right away I want to get out the issues with what’s going on in my departments and address the issues from different perspective that are involved. As you know Mr. Cornwall the sales volume in the departments of Sporting Goods, House wears, Hardware, and Toys have declined as of lately and after speaking to the sales mangers and sales associates in each department they have come to a conclusion that the reason of the decline is due to the level of customer traffic throughout the store had not been adequate or sufficient enough to allow the departments to gain high sales. And since that reason wasn’t the truth behind the decline in sales volume, you decided to implement this new program to find out which people were actively making sales to weed out the weak associates that didn’t make enough sales. In doing this without me consulting my departments and implementing this program right away has caused more problems for us then what was expected from this new program. After communicating with the sales managers and associates I have discovered some flaws and backlash from this new program. Right away from my perspective I’ve noticed sales staff getting more aggressive in their sales effort, which is a good thing, but this causes friendly conversation between salespeople and between sales staff and customers to be shortened to get sales faster. This makes our company lose the connections with our customers and we should never lose that with our consumers. With everyone trying to make sales I’ve noticed the stock rooms were a mess and certain merchandise weren’t stocked, but left in the stock room because everyone was to busy trying to get...
