From ‘First, Break All the Rules’ I have learnt that in an organization, the immediate manager is more important other criteria for employees such as, the wage, the profit sharing. And for those great managers they have one same rule. There are “the Four Keys” for great managers and they use these keys to maximize their employees’ potential. For employees, they have their own talents, which cannot be taught like knowledge and skills. Managers should know what talent they need and find it. Great mangers all have one common that they never try to change someone because they hold the mantra “People don’t change that much, it is waste of time trying to put in what was left out” .After find the talent, managers should define the right outcomes. Managers should trust their employees believe they have enough talent to achieve the goal and they can achieve their goals through their own way. Never try to ask them be perfect. By help employees achieve their goals managers should help them focus on their strengths, put the right employees in the right positions. When the employees are doing very well, don’t try to regard promotion is the only prizes. Instead, help them find the right fit is beneficial both to the employees themselves and the organization.

The ways that employee’s manager leads and says has a strong impact on his employee, and always decides directly the employee’s performance and motivations. From the beginning selecting someone to the end developing someone, a great manager shouldn’t treat all his employees as the same. Great manager select their employees’ talents, help them find the right fits. To be a great manager, like the book said people have their own talent, he should know how to deal with different employees in different ways according to their personal styles as well as their talent. Knowing his employees is one of the manager’s duties and then using effective communication skills to deal with their situation, to avoid some misunderstanding...
